May (“we”, “us”, or “our”) operates the May mobile application (the “App”). This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect, who receives it and why, and the choices you have.
1. Information We Collect
Account information: Your name, email address, and sign-in details (via Sign in with Apple or email).
What you tell May: The wishes and goals you choose or write, your city, and profile answers you choose to give, such as age, gender, relationship status, sexuality and work. Also the people you add (their names and how you know them), your answers to quick questions, what you add to “May knows”, and anything you write when you rate or adjust a story.
Stories and listening: The stories and audio made for you, which stories you play, save and rate, and your feedback.
Purchases: Your subscription status, from Apple via RevenueCat. We never see your payment card.
Usage and device information: How you use the App (for example screens viewed and features used), your device model, operating system and app version, language, time zone and an app-specific identifier, for analytics and troubleshooting. Your time zone is also saved with your account so For Today arrives at the right time.
Crash reports and diagnostics: When something goes wrong, technical details such as the error, where in the App it happened, the network type and the device details above.
IP address: Like any internet service, our providers receive your device’s IP address when the App connects to them. We don’t use it to work out where you are, and our analytics provider is set to discard it.
2. How We Use Your Information
- Write and narrate your personalised stories and affirmations
- Run your account and subscription
- Understand how the App is used, fix problems and improve it
- Keep our services secure and prevent abuse
3. AI Services and Your Permission
Stories are written and narrated by third-party AI services. We only send your details to them after you agree in the App, and you can withdraw that permission at any time.
Anthropic (story writing): To write a story, we send Anthropic a request that can include your name, age and city, your profile answers (such as gender, relationship status, sexuality and work), your wishes and goals, the people you add and how you know them, your answers to quick questions, what May knows about you, what you write when you rate or adjust a story, and recent story titles. Anthropic returns the story text. We also use Anthropic to sort a wish you write in your own words into a life area, and to skip quick questions you have already answered elsewhere. Under Anthropic’s commercial terms, this data is not used to train its models, and Anthropic deletes it from its systems within 30 days unless it must keep it longer for safety or legal reasons.
Cartesia (voice generation): To narrate a story, we send Cartesia the story text, which can include your name and the names of people in it. Cartesia returns the audio. Under Cartesia’s terms, it may store this text and audio and use them to train and improve its models; Cartesia does not publish a fixed period for keeping them.
We send these details only so they can create your stories and audio. They are not told your email address. The stories and audio are stored in your May account.
Withdrawing permission: In the App, go to Settings › Privacy Policy and tap “Withdraw AI permission” at the end. Once you withdraw, May stops sending your details to these services, and new stories, For Today and narration stop until you agree again. Stories you already have stay in your Library. Withdrawing does not undo requests already sent.
4. Data Storage and Security
Your data is stored with Supabase, with encryption in transit and at rest. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we use industry-standard measures to protect your information.
5. Who Else Receives Data
We do not sell your personal information or use it for advertising. Besides the AI services above, these providers process data for us:
- Supabase: hosting, database, sign-in and audio storage
- RevenueCat: subscription status
- PostHog: product analytics, crash reports and diagnostic logs, plus AI usage counts and timings (not the text of your stories or what you write)
- Mapbox: suggestions when you search for your city
We may also disclose information when required by law.
6. Retention, Deletion and Your Rights
We keep your data while your account is open. You can delete your account in Settings › Delete account. This permanently deletes your profile, wishes, people, answers, stories and story audio from our database and storage, and deletes your subscription record at RevenueCat. Analytics and crash reports held by PostHog are not yet deleted automatically: email us at hello@manifestwithmay.com and we will delete them. Deleting your account does not cancel an App Store subscription.
Copies already sent to Anthropic and Cartesia are kept under their terms described above. Short narration segments in our shared audio cache are stored by content, not by account, so they are not removed when you delete your account. Our hosting and analytics providers keep technical logs for a limited period under their own terms.
You can also ask us for a copy of your data, or to correct it, by emailing hello@manifestwithmay.com.
7. Children’s Privacy
The App is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we discover we have collected such information, we will delete it promptly.
8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes through the App or via email. Your continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
9. Contact Us
